Guest Speaker Meeting - Wed 5 March

Where: St Georges Community Hall, St Georges Road, Redditch. B98 8EE
Date: Wed 5th Mar 2008 @ 19:30 until 21:30 ( past event )

If you`re veggie or vegan(or moving in that direction), why not come along to our meeting and get to know other veggies/vegans from across Redditch! We`re a friendly bunch, of all ages, from assorted backgrounds. We have one thing in common - we want to live a healthy, compassionate, eco-friendly lifestyle by not eating meat/animal products, and we want to promote the many benefits to others!

Vegan Organic Growing,
with guest speaker Rob Jackson of the Vegan Society

Before he started working for the Vegan Society in Birmingham, Rob used to be a volunteer and part-time student at the Welsh College of Horticulture who run 3 hectares of farm land which use no animal inputs (ie no animal manures, fish/blood/bone etc etc). Within the official `Organic` standards, there is now a `Stock Free` standard which encompasses all the regular organic do's and dont`s, plus about 40 extras which deal with the exclusion of animals and animal products. In order to make it attractive to farmers, the standard does not mention the word `Vegan` and allows a certain number of companion animals (eg ducks for weed/pest control) on the land.

Rob will give a talk on this fascinating subject. You can help publicise the meeting by displaying a poster, which you can download
here  Please display them on your local allotment site noticeboard, shop window etc. If you can`t get to the meeting but would like to know more, see www.veganorganic.net

As always,
Red Kite Health Foods will have a stall offering a wide range of tempting treats from the shops shelves.

FREE ADMISSION - Everyone Welcome - Doors Open 7.15pm

Vegan biscuits and refreshments will be available for everyone from 7.15pm. As always, there will be a range of factsheets and leaflets to browse and take home. There will also be a `library` of interesting books regarding veggie/vegan diets. Everyone will be welcome to borrow books and bring them back next time.
